For individuals (personal accounts and cardholders)
Government photo ID — front (and back)
Why we collect it: It's the core proof of identity. It confirms the person's legal name, date of birth, and nationality, and lets us screen against sanctions and watchlists. The back is needed for cards and permits (which carry data on the reverse) but not for passports.
USA: Driver's license, state-issued ID card, or US passport.
UAE: Emirates ID, or passport.
Selfie
Why we collect it: A live selfie is matched against the photo on the ID to confirm the person submitting the application is the genuine document holder. It's our main defense against stolen-ID and impersonation fraud.
Global: A live selfie taken in the app.
Proof of address (only when requested)
Why we collect it: Requested when location signals conflict (for example, an ID issued in one region but a stated residence in another). It confirms the current residential address and must be dated within the last 90 days, show a physical address (no PO boxes), and be addressed to the individual.
USA: Utility bill, bank statement, or government-issued letter.
UAE: DEWA (or other utility) bill, bank statement, or tenancy contract (Ejari).
For businesses (company accounts)
In addition to the personal documents above for each owner (UBO), we collect the following at the company level.
Business formation document
Why we collect it: It proves the company legally exists and is registered with the relevant authority. It establishes the legal name, entity type, and registration details.
USA: Articles of Incorporation / Certificate of Incorporation (corporations), or Articles of Organization / Certificate of Formation (LLCs), filed with the Secretary of State. Paired with the company's EIN (tax ID) and state registration number.
UAE: Trade License / Commercial License, Certificate of Incorporation, or Memorandum of Association. Paired with the company's Tax Registration Number (TRN).
Ownership information
Why we collect it: We're required to identify every individual who ultimately owns 25% or more of the business (the ultimate beneficial owners), so 100% of ownership must be clearly accounted for. A control person (e.g. CEO/Director) can instead formally attest to the ownership structure in lieu of a document.
USA: Cap table, shareholder register / ledger, operating agreement, shareholders' agreement, or K-1 forms. Cap tables from recognized platforms (e.g. Carta) are accepted as-is.
UAE: Memorandum of Association listing shareholders, share certificates, or a shareholder register.
Proof of address (only when requested)
Why we collect it: Requested when the company's registered, operating, or control-person locations send conflicting signals. It must confirm the current physical operating address, be addressed to the entity, and be dated within the last 90 days (a lease can be older if still current).
USA: Bank statement, utility bill, government-issued letter, or office lease agreement.
UAE: DEWA (or other utility) bill, bank statement, or office tenancy contract (Ejari).
Proof of nature of business (only when requested)
Why we collect it: Requested to confirm the business actually carries out the activity it claims, especially for higher-risk or regulated activities.
Global: Invoices, commercial contracts, the business website, or marketing materials.
Identity documents for each beneficial owner / control person
Why we collect it: Every owner of 25%+ and any control person must complete the same individual identity verification as a personal customer, so we know exactly who is behind the business.
USA: Each owner provides a driver's license, state ID, or US passport, plus a selfie.
UAE: Each owner provides an Emirates ID or passport, plus a selfie.
